A Tune Dedicated to World Autoimmune Encephalitis Day, February 22, 2018

Hi all,

As World Encephalitis Day approaches (it's February 22, 2018 for those who don't know already!), I thought I'd create a catchy (or non-catchy ;) ) tune to help raise awareness.

Autoimmune encephalitis is a relatively newly discovered disease which is characterized by progressively worsening cognitive function, behavioral changes and often seizures. It is caused by inflammation of the brain (more specifically, the body's own immune system attacks the brain). Awareness among clinicians and among all people should be encouraged, as the onset of the symptoms may be confused with other diseases, such as psychiatric illness or dementia.

A great book to read for those interesting in learning more is Brain on Fire by Susan Callaghan.

Also, remember to check out the Encephalitis Society website to identify ways that you can help support and raise awareness during World Encephalitis Day.

Hope you enjoy my tune. It's based on one of my favorite songs "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen.
